More Terrariums!

I already posted about making Dollar Tree terrariums using fish bowls and glass candle sticks. This time I made one with one of my old large fish bowls. Its been in my garage for years and I thought it would be a great place to make one- also I can use larger plants! You can often find old fish bowls like this at Goodwill and other thrift stores for super cheap.

You need:
fish bowl or other large glass bowl
white sand from Dollar Tree
any pebbles rocks or other decor you like
a plant that doesn't need much water

I just made a small hole to place the plants roots and then scooped some of the sand around the sides of it. I rarely water it. I think I will add a cactus soon!

DIY Basket

This is a fairly easy craft that can be cheap depending on where you get your rope. Even if your rope costs $25 it will still be a lot cheaper than similar baskets at Anthropologie and other retailers. I got my rope at Fred Meyer but thinking back I wish I had checked out other options like maybe Home Depot for more options and cheaper prices. I got the largest sized rope I could and I needed two of them. I forgot to take note of how long my rope was (sorry!)

What you need:
plastic laundry basket
rope (the larger the rope the less you need)
hot glue
scissors
lighter
paint
water
sponge brush

I got a white plastic laundry basket from Dollar Tree. To make the basket I used a hot glue gun to attach the rope all around the basket. After I had attached all the rope I used paint to color it. I didn't want it to look too plastic or paint-like so I watered my paint down with water and used a sponge brush to squeeze and brush it on until the entire basket was covered. One of the cool parts of doing it this way was how the color was a little uneven which gave it a more weathered authentic look. I let mine dry for about 3-4 days.

If your rope is too long you can use a pair of sharp scissors to cut it off and a lighter to stop the edges from fraying (on some rope types.)

Remove Shoe Scuffs!

I have this beautiful pair of patent leather flats that have these white scuff marks on them. Nothing would take the marks off my shoes and I was really sad. Then I had an idea- those magic erase sponges you see on TV. And the great thing is that they have these at Dollar Tree for $1 for two. I got one wet and gently started rubbing the scuff marks off my shoe and it worked- like magic! I can't believe I waited years to try this!

If You Have Long or Tangled Hair

I'm in the middle of a few crafting projects right now so I haven't been able  to post them quite yet. In the meantime I'm so blown away by this amazing hair brush I wanted to blog about it. I have really long wavy hair. You could actually say curly hair. And it tangles really badly! Brushing it after a shower is always painful. I saw someone talk about this brush on a web forum for moms and decided I needed to get one right away. So off I went to Sally's Beauty Supply to get one. I have the purple one. It  was only $8 and it works just like it claims to work- amazingly well! Wet or dry hair! I love this brush so much! It's called The Wet Brush.
