Brown Sugar Lemon Coconut Scrub

So there are many different recipes for this online. I found a few different ones I liked and sorta combined them. Here is mine:

3/4 cup baking sugar
1 1/4 cup brown sugar
Aprox 1/4 to 1/3 cup coconut oil
1 tsp lemon/almond/vit E oil mix from Burt's Bees
Half a lemons juice

I mixed it all up. The image above is before I added all my sugar so it was still a little too wet. Also you can use any kind of sugar you like. I like a mix of textures.

Robot Globe

So I made this before Christmas for a friend. Im a little late posting it but I wanted to share because it was a quick and easy craft.

I painted a wooden robot toy I had on hand and the lid of a mason jar with gold paint. Once all of that dried I hot glued the robot to the bottom of the mason jar. Then I added fake snow and wrapped a gold pipe cleaner around the top under the lid. Thats it!

Spicy Chicken Stir Fry

You can make this stir fry with something other than chicken if you are a vegetarian or just like a different meat. You can also vary the ingredients to your preference. The key to this recipe is the coconut oil, soy sauce and the spices. This version is pretty spicy. So if you are unsure of how spicy you want it I would consider starting out with half the spices and doing a taste test while cooking.

This is what you need:

2 chicken breasts, chopped up
1 tbs black pepper
1 tbs tumeric
1 tbs cayenne pepper
half tbs salt
a good pour of soy sauce ( I eyeball it- maybe hall a cup or more)
half cup or more of coconut oil (this is approximate)
3 large garlic cloves, chopped
half of a large red onion, chopped
1 package of frozen corn
1 large brussel of broccoli chopped
1 small package of sugar snap peas or snow peas
1 large red pepper, chopped
1 large orange pepper, chopped
1 large handful of green beans, chopped
1 large handful of asparagus, chopped
about 5 mushrooms, chopped
2 to 4 cups of basmati rice, steamed

Chop all your veggies and place them in a large bowl.
Start your rice in the steamer.
Chop the garlic and onions and place them in your wok. Put the half cup of coconut oil and soy sauce in the wok and turn your heat on high. Put your spices in and stir everything up.
Next place the chicken in the wok and cook it thoroughly with the garlic, onion, oil and spices. You may need want to turn your heat down a little bit at this point.

After your chicken is cooked add the veggies to the wok and stir it all up. Keep stiring regularly until the veggies are cooked but still crisp.

Serve over the steamed basmati rice. Makes enough for 4.

Cardboard Letter Marque

I got this idea from Kelly Lee Housewifery. She has a tutorial there on how to make these so I won't go over it all here. I decided to make things a tad more difficult though and got really large cardboard letters. That means it required a lot more christmas lights and something to stabilize the letters so they didn't fall over or flop all over the place. To remedy this I went to Home Depot and got clear plastic wall corner protectors. I got 4 of the smaller ones rather than the full size ones. I over lapped them a little and it worked really well. I just hot glued them to the bottom and top edge like in the image below.

I also used one long strand of lights as opposed to small 20-light strands. I missed out on the holiday light selections so the longer strand had to do. It worked out well with the larger letters though, because I had the plastic corner protectors to reenforce everything.
When you put a dab of glue on the lights when inserting them, be careful not to get glue on the bulb. It can burn it out.

Super Easy Cupcake Cloche

This is the easiest craft I have ever made. And cheap too! I placed a tea light in mine because I don't currently have cupcakes made!

You need:

A fish bowl from Dollar Tree (they have varying sizes so I got a medium/small sized one- just large enough to cover a cupcake)

A flat glass candle holder from Dollar Tree

A candle stick holder also from Dollar Tree

A topper for a handle. The tutorial I got the idea from used a cheap wooden knob but I spent $3 at Home Depot for a vintage plastic cabinet handle shaped like a diamond.

Spray paint

E6000 glue or glass glue

I spray painted the candle stick holder and the flat glass candle holder. I only painted the back side of the flat candle holder because the cupcake sits on the other side.

Once your paint dries glue the top of the candle stick holder to the bottom side of the flat candle holder. Glue your knob to the bottom of the fish bowl like in the image above.

Let dry for a few hours before using.

Manila Folder Hanging Lamp

I got this idea from Dollar Store Crafts. The tutorial is at that link. It's a little long so I won't go through how I made it here. Their instructions will be a lot better than mine anyhow. It's pretty easy to make and really cheap. I got almost all my supplies at the Dollar Store too! I used a slightly different wooden stick than they use and I got those at the grocery store.

Mine turned out pretty good except one thing- I didn't measure my manila folders to be cut the exact same length on all sides. This caused the sides of my lamp to bend inward in some places. So make sure when you cut your folders you cut all the pieces to match the other pieces exactly!
